AV and GS on my mobile

I would like to share with my fellow readers and contributors of this column something which I have recently discovered.

You do not have to wait till Friday or Saturday for your copies of AV and GS to land on your doormats through the letter box!

On the Internet on your mobile ‘phone, just type “Asian Voice opinion” and you will be directed to the relevant page (8 or 10) of the “Readers Voice” column where you can pre-empt whether your contribution is published or not and also glance at other letters in advance of receiving the hard copies.

Also, if you are registered with them, you can receive copies of Gujarat Samachar/Asian Voice on a regular basis by e-mail.

I wonder whether similar facility is available to readers of other papers. I also wonder if people could read the papers on-line like this then there is little incentive to subscribe to them or to purchase them at the news agents.

Having said this, I will state categorically that there is no comparison with the hard copies of the actual full sized versions. The only downside to this is that if you if you search the “Readers Voice” column and see that your own contribution is not published for some reason, the enthusiasm of waiting for the postal copies wanes a little. But never mind, you try again and if it is worthy of publication, your letter will surely get included.
